Verbumprogram

Verbumprogram is an art group formed by Ratomir Kulić and Vladimir Mattioni.  They claim they are “larger than an individual, but smaller than a group”, located “before history and after art.” It is difficult to categorize Verbumprogram’s works, but they are usually placed in the context of new artistic practice, conceptual art, dematerialization of the art object, and new geometry.
Kulić and Mattioni have been active as an artistic duo Verbum program since 1974. The fields of their artistic activity are expanded media, graphics, sculptures, theory of visual arts.
Ratomir Kulić lives in Novi Sad, and Vlado Mattioni in Zagreb.

Ratomir Kulić was born in Ruma, Serbia in 1948. He graduated from the Department of History of Art at the Faculty of Arts in Belgrade. From mid-1960s he is interested in poetry and language, and in late 1960s he started researching the the processes of mental perception.

Vladimir Mattioni was born in Ruma, Serbia in 1943. He graduated from the Faculty of Architecture in Belgrade. In the 1960s he was interested in scenery and design, and in late 1960s he switched his focus to film.
