Milan Adamčiak

Milan Adamčiak was born in 1946 in Ružomberok, Slovakia. He graduated from the Music school in Žilina (cello) and Faculty of Philosophy of Comenius University Bratislava, where he later taught. From 1972 to 1991 he worked at the Institute of Musical Studies of Slovak Academy of Sciences, researching music of the 20th century and the relation of music and visual arts.

His work includes visual poetry, graphic scores, sound objects, action art, performances, experimental composing. He was in various art groups, and in 1989 he started the Transmusic comp. - Ensemble of unconventional music. In 1990 he founded Society of Unconventional Music, and initiated the FIT - Festival of intermedia creativity (Bratislava, 1991 and 1992). 1990 he co-founded New Seriousness with Július Koller and Peter Rónai. Since 2005 Adamčiak collaborates with Michal Murin on a social project Altruism as Arttruism. He lives in Banská Belá, Slovakia.
