Jiří Valoch, born in 1947 in Brno, is a Czech theoretician of art, curator, critic and artist. He mastered Czech and German language and aesthetics on Masaryk University in Brno. He studied development and typology of experimantal poetry. From 1963 he started making his own visual and conceptual poetry by using standardised language and textual installations, conceptual drawings, body and land art. Valoch gradually but constantly and radically defies and blurs boundaries between the visual and words. In order to understand his work vocation of art historian does not suffice, because of his contempt towards previously mentioned limitations, instead we need to use the tools of linguistics.
