Guia Rigvava was born in 1956 in Tbilisi, Georgia. He graduated from the Moscow State Institute of Foreign Affairs and Moscow Surikov State Art Institute. He worked as a university professor and an art director on several films.

His work includes visual art, installations, video installations, and performance art. He lives and works in Vienna, Austria.
